MICHAEL HAMPTON
FIGURE DRAWING AND ANATOMY EDUCATOR - ANATOMY TOOLS, LUCAS ARTS
Michael Hampton is an artist and long-time educator in the fields of figure drawing, anatomy, and two- dimensional design. His particular focus is teaching these concepts to students entering the fields of animation, illustration, and game art. He has lectured and lead workshops at schools such as Anatomy Tools, Lucas Arts, Computer Graphics Master Academy (CGMA), as well as numerous private and public colleges in Southern California. In 2009, Michael published Figure Drawing: Design and Invention, a textbook used for analytical figure drawing classes at many schools worldwide, as well as a reference book at various game/animation companies. In addition to his work in the game art and animation fields, Michael also is an actively exhibiting artist in Los Angeles. Recent shows include the Torrance Art Museum, DEN Contemporary, White Box Contemporary, Autonomie, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions, among others. He currently sits on the board of directors for the Foundation for Art Resources, a 37 year old non-profit Los Angeles arts organization. Michael received a BFA in Illustration from Art Center College of Design, an MFA in Fine Arts from Claremont Graduate University, and an MA
in Art History from the University of California, Riverside. Michael is currently completing his PhD in Art History at the University of California, Riverside.
